context

Computers have become scrapbooks, an endless deeply personal and intimate collection of things that at one time meant something to you, or we shoved in for a later investigation that never happened. Tools like Pocket, as a read-it-later list and Notion, as a continual piece of paper, even the detailed organisation of files into folders, or every file into one folder on a computer show that we as people keep trying to treat computers as scrapbooks. Snip, store, hopefully find later

If a computer is a scrapbook, then the information contained within has immeasurable value and insight into the one who put it together. Many journals come with lock & key, scrapbooks are often kept in safe places, not in view of everyone visiting. So why don't we do the same with a computer? The risks are significantly higher, malware, hardware failure, loss, theft, replacement and more.

It takes approximately 30 days to reconfigure a computer back to how it was with all individual personalizations restored after failure

To loose a month of collecting memories, productivity, because of an interruption to the scrapbook flow is painful to say the least. Additionally computers need replacement regularly

  • ~6 years for Casual users i.e. web-browser, streaming, email
  • ~3 years for Professionals
  • ~1.5 years for Gamers

At best, one month every 72 is lost (1.4% time), at worst one every 18 months (5.6% time). And this is the crux of the challenge, it does not seem a significant investment of time, until your in the month of repairs, and adjustment. But if you dropped your scrapbook every day and then had to spend 80 minutes every day putting the contents back where they belong, how long until you took precautions to prevent dropping the scrapbook entirely?

This is the context of why Trackless exists, to continually ensure your time is not wasted, and when things go wrong interruptions are minimal

work platforms

Trackless is an application of Renitent applied to Work Platforms. Context discusses how computers are treated as scrapbooks, yet to collect, insert, manage the scrapbook usually an entire desk or area is reserved with items to assist in scrapbooking

Peoples minds are associative, contextual, location, environment sensitive. It matters not only what you are doing, but where you are doing it and how familiar the location is. No author of a creative work continually works on it in new locations, or in environments that counteract their flow state. Remote Workers setup a dedicated space to work from, dishes are washed in the kitchen, not laundry or bathroom (although they could be)

Each location a specific series of tasks are performed, with supportive tooling, layout, context and environment to assist in making the tasks as simple as possible, or effectively

people build platforms at locations to work from.

This is why we say Trackless is a tool for digital Work Platforms and not just an extension of an Operating System

work platform

knowing trackless

Trackless in order to be an effective digital work platform needs specific capabilities in-place, but these capabilities must be possible anywhere in the world, on any computer, without sacrificing privacy, safety or security. But it is more than this.

A work platform must be able to be accessed only by those who know of its existence and have the right to use it

Trackless must have the following to exist as a work platform:

  • Locations: via Renitent
  • Verification of Humanity: via EEZY
  • Operating System: via CyviZen or CyviCo to interact with your Digital Self
  • Senses: to fulfill the task, appropriately interacting with information in a meaningful way
  • Isolation: other Digital Selfs must not be able to interact with a Trackless without your invite

Operating System

Trackless extends an Operating System, it technically is not one, yet Trackless is so intimately woven into both Renitent and the Operating Systems capabilities that it is virtually inseparable due to its unique requirements.

The Operating System must be:

  • Ephemeral: Renitent explains data and information are by nature ephemeral, the technology to interface must understand the nuances of ephemerality and extend to the Operating System itself. When the Computer is turned off, there should be nothing identifiable as to what work platform or its respective Renitent linked information was last used. In other words, an Operating System should not exist, and by default the work platform should not exist when the Computer is turned off
  • immutable: The Operating System must not be able to be changed or modified by the individual interacting with the computer, or any software on the computer. Any changes should replace in its entirety the previous Operating System
  • Reproducible: Every single time the computer boots up if it is ephemeral and immutable then the Operating System is built from scratch. Guarantees that the Operating System is the same as it was last time it was assembled must be provided, along with assurances that data has not been corrupted or configuration altered.

Senses

Imagine having the ability to eat, yet never eating food, or having the ability to hear music but all music is gone from the world. A Digital Self has no senses by default, it just knows where it is and when it is with you. Trackless brings a collection of senses and their relevant applications (i.e. email & Mozilla Thunderbird) at the platform level. Enabling your Digital Self and you to work together in a simple or complex a work platform as necessary.

Isolation

Fundamentally we have different work platforms in our daily lives, the problems occur when things from one work platform spill into another work platform. Trackless guarantees that every work platform is unique, this includes its Renitent interactions and location, as such it is not possible to access data from another work platform (or to track through your trackless zone into another, hence the name) even if both work platforms exist on the same Solid State Drive or computer.

Remote Work now Okay

Trackless guarantees isolation between Digital Selfs, or in essence, between your trackless individual work and a trackless company work.

Companies can enjoy the benefits of Remote Workers using their own hardware {not company hardware} without risk of shadow data extraction. If configured appropriately, the the only way to extract information from a company trackless profile is via external physical camera, or inserting a video capture card between the computer and monitor.

Individuals, no longer need to travel with multiple computers, or have concerns companys they remote work with are spying on their individual data, as trackless guarantees the company trackless profile is unable to access your individual trackless profile.

83% of Global Workers, now specify Hybrid or Remote work is their preference, with 40% of Tokyo Employees remote working. Trackless and Renitent are invaluable for ensuring files, especially trade secrets remain owned appropriately.
